Stay in control
A handful of habits keep play healthy. Treat them as rules you don't break, not optional extras.
- Decide on a budget before you deposit, and never try to win back losses with money you can't afford to lose.
- Switch on the deposit, loss and session limits every reputable casino provides — do it on day one, not after a bad run.
- Step away for regular breaks, and never play to escape stress, boredom or a low mood.
- Don't gamble after drinking, and never borrow money — from anyone — to fund play.
- Keep in mind that the house always holds an edge: gambling is a form of entertainment, not a source of income.
Warning signs
It may be time to pause if you're spending more than you planned, hiding your play from people close to you, gambling mainly to claw back losses, or feeling on edge when you're not playing. Most casinos offer cooling-off periods and self-exclusion — reach for them early, while they're a choice, rather than leaving them as a last resort.
